ECA Public Owners Forum – Progress Update

Owner and industry leaders met once again at the beautiful City Room at Peter Lougheed Hall (U of A) on Wednesday, April 10th for our bi-annual Owners Forum meeting.  The ECA Owners Forum, now entering its third year, brings together 18 public owner groups, as well as industry, to focus on select priority initiatives.

Owners represented include:

Alberta Infrastructure
Alberta Transportation
City of Calgary
City of Edmonton
City of Leduc
City of Spruce Grove
City of St. Albert
Defence Construction Canada
Edmonton Catholic Schools

Edmonton International Airport
Edmonton Public School Board
MacEwan University
Public Services and Procurement Canada
Strathcona County
University of Alberta
University of Calgary

It has now been 1 year since a strategic planning session among owner groups yielded two priority initiatives.  These priorities are:

  1. Establishment of a Common set of principles for Supplier/Vendor/Contractor Evaluation for Owners
  2. Creation of a common Delivery Method Assessment Tool/Matrix for Owners

Since April 2018 Owners, in collaboration with industry representation from the CAA, CEA, ARHCA and ECA, have worked tirelessly in sub-committee roles to move these initiatives forward.  Our discussions on April 10th yielded a conclusion that both initiatives are ready to launch in their 2019 working forms this summer.  ECA staff will be working to make these available through our website shortly.  In the meantime, please find information on Priority #1 and #2 below:
